Golden Cross Guesthouse offers a fantastic location right in the heart of Oxford, on Cornmarket Street near the covered market, placing guests within easy reach of tourist spots. Housed in a Grade 1 listed building, it provides good value, with many rooms being spacious and some including access to a shared kitchen equipped with a washing machine, fridge, kettle, and free tea/coffee. While the building's age means that some guests have noted that cooking on the hob is not always possible, the guesthouse stands out for its central location and comfortable amenities, including comfy beds and good heating.

shared bathroom dirty staircase
I wasn't happy about the shared facilities. I found the shared bathroom to be less than ideal. the kitchen also had a note saying cooking wasn't allowed, something i didn't know beforehand. this made meal planning difficult and was quite frustrating, the stairs were narrow and dirty, going up to the third floor. it wasn't a pleasant experience.
